Today, thirteen members of the Alliance represent twelve countries and a population of over 34 million in the sister-cities represented. With a total of about 400,000 students and 36,000 teachers, the Alliance’s wide variety of educational and research programs can be recognized worldwide. The mission of the GISU Alliance is to attract and use the resources of Allies in close cooperation for the sustainable development of their hometowns (http://gisu.gzhu.edu.cn/ABOUT_GISU/Brochure.htm).

In 2021 Igor Sikorsky KPI proved to be an active participant in various areas of the Alliance. Due to the transition to distance learning, it was not possible to participate in the student competition of urban innovations and art competition. But the university was actively involved in other activities of the Alliance:

Research projects: representatives of Igor Sikorsky KPI took part in the project on “SMART cities / Tourism” and in the international webinar held on October 28, 2021, organized by the Center for Social Research of the University of Coimbra (Portugal) in collaboration with the University of Quebec in Montreal (Canada), University of Western (Australia), University of Padua (Italy), Guangzhou University (China) with further plans to hold an international conference and world forum in 2022.

The GISU Alliance’s annual reporting conference in November 2021 acknowledged the significant contribution of Igor Sikorsky KPI and offered to participate in the development and maintenance of an information platform for interaction between members of the GISU Alliance.

For 2022, GISU members have larger plans:

  • the number of programs offered within the Academy of Digital Technologies and Entrepreneurship has almost quadrupled. In particular, Igor Sikorsky KPI submitted three times more programs;
  • the list of promising areas of search and publication projects has doubled (artificial intelligence; entrepreneurship; tourism / smart cities; intellectual technologies; life sciences; alternative energy; advanced financial technologies; materials science).
  • the search for sponsors for international competitions of urban innovations, summer schools, art competitions continues.
