Graduates of British colleges want starting salaries 25% higher than national average 

College graduates now expect higher salaries than earlier this year. University graduates want to see a starting salary of £30,000 in their first job, a new survey has revealed. This is thousands of pounds more than the average starting salary for recent graduates, which is estimated to be between £24,000 and £27,000. Young people look forward to their first, a new poll from career platforms finds salary back the University over £30,000. 

That’s 9% higher than Bright Network’s request at the beginning of the year. 

According to Bright Network, around 80% of young people have changed their minds about starting salary due to the crisis. The poll of 4,000 respondents found that a similar percentage said they wanted to “part-time” to earn extra income in addition to their full-time jobs. 

Real wages have been falling in the cost of living crisis as wages are rising at a slower rate than inflation. Total compensation, including bonuses, based on latest estimates Adjusted for inflation, down 3.6%.
