Researchers from 25 countries participate in the ELNANO-2020 Conference

On April 22 at the Faculty of Electronics of the Igor Sikorsky KPI has started its work the 40th IEEE International Scientific and Technical Conference “ELECTRONICS AND NANOTECHNOLOGY” – ELNANO-2020.

The organizes of the Conference are the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a worldwide organization which was founded more than a century ago and which brings together approximately 400,000 engineers and researchers from more than 160 countries, and the Igor Sikorsky KPI in partnership with the following organizations: American Optical Society OSA (The Optical Society – a professional association of individuals and companies who are interested in optics and photonics, which has about 22 thousand members from more than 100 different countries), National Aviation University of Ukraine, V.E. Lashkaryov Institute of Semiconductor Physics of NAS of Ukraine and State Scientific Institution “Institute for Single Crystals” of NAS of Ukraine.

Owing to quarantine measures, the Conference is being held online, which is a completely new format for such large-scale scientific events. This imposes on the participants some additional conditions, which the organizers informed in advance on the event site: if the report was included in the program of the Conference, the authors had to submit not only its abstracts but also a voice-over presentation. The presentation provided has been posted on the site, and during the conference participants should answer questions of their colleagues from other research organizations and countries.

The geography of one of the world’s most renowned scientific forum of electronics and electrical engineers, such as the ELNANO-2020 conference, was not much smaller this year compared with last year one: if in 2019 it was attended by 28 countries, now it is 25! This reflects the fact the ELNANO conference is one of the major annual scientific events in the field and is, therefore, an extremely important event for the scientific and technological community worldwide.

According to the chairperson of the Program Committee of the Conference, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Yuriy Yakymenko, 185 reports were submitted for participant’s consideration out of 250 sent. These reports have already been published in a special edition, which is included in one of the leading international scientometric databases. Scientists will work in three sections: Micro- and Nanoelectronics, Biomedical Electronics and Signal Processing, and Electronic Systems.

“Students and postgraduate students of the Igor Sikorsky KPI, who receive education in the relevant specialties, were allowed to register for this conference and to join it for free, that is very important”- said Yuriy Yakymenko. “In particular, for students from the Faculty of Electronics, it is an additional opportunity to hear about the achievements and challenges of modern electronics directly from leading experts in the world and also to participate in the discussion of the most important issues in the field.”

The conference will be held from 22 to 24 April. For more information about the program and schedule, please link to http://elnano.kpi.ua/ .
